NEW – Safety Update – Doors Locked During School Hours
The staff of Southwood School continuously review student safety as it remains a priority for our school. Regularly scheduled lockdown and fire drills ensure we are prepared in the event of an emergency. In an effort to increase our current safety and security measures, as ofMarch 1, 2017 the west parking lot entrance and the north sidewalk entrance will remain locked after 9 am. Visitors are asked to use the front doors and are asked to check-in at the office prior to entering the classrooms.
Parents and visitors are also reminded to remain in the foyer when picking up their child. Students will be called to the office. This measure is intended to limit the number of individuals having access to our students. If you are a parent volunteer, we also ask that you sign in at the office and thank you for your time in supporting our Southwood students.

Checking in at the Office
As a matter concerning student safety and divisional protocol, we would like to remind parents and caregivers to please check in at the office when you come to the school. Please use the front doors near the office to enter the building. The secretaries will be happy to help you. As an early years school we value the relationship that we have with all of our families and we will always welcome you. We care about the well-being of all of our students which is why it is important for parents and visitors to use the front doors and check in at the office.
Parents are also reminded that when alternative home arrangements are being made for your child, please notify the office. Students will not be released to individuals that are not their legal guardian unless the teacher has received a note or the individual is listed as an emergency contact in our system.
