Dear Parents/Guardians:
On Thursday, September 23rd, 2021, Southwood School is proud to be taking part in this year’s Terry Fox School Event. (Rain/alternate date: Friday, September 24th, 2021)
Run route details: The students will be running the inside perimeter of either the north or south playgrounds during their gym or music class.
Please help us to continue the legacy of one of Canada’s greatest heroes, by donating and supporting our school’s fundraising efforts. Through our participation in the Terry Fox School Run, we hope to encourage our students to “Try like Terry” and to strive for the “Anything is possible if you try,” mindset.
How to donate:

1. Click this link: https://www.terryfox.ca/Southwood to our school’s fundraising page. It’s fast, easy and donors get a receipt immediately by email. Alternately, go to terryfox.org and search “Southwood School.”
2. Your child may choose to set up their own fundraising page by clicking the “Donate to a Student” button. Their page will connect automatically to our school’s fundraising page and they’ll receive a link to email friends and family to help them reach their fundraising goal.
3. This year we are also able to collect cash or cheque donations using a pledge sheet that your child will bring home.
We are very excited to be a part of the “41st” anniversary of the Terry Fox Run. This is our opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those suffering from cancer. We hope you will help us reach our school fundraising goal as our community bands together in the fight against cancer. We will be collecting donations until October 1st.

Along with our online fundraising for the Terry Fox Foundation, Southwood students are encouraged to bring a” toonie for Terry” between Sept. 22nd and Oct. 1st. They will deposit their toonie into their classroom’s “Terry Fox cup.”

Thank you in advance for your support!

Fun fact: Did you know, over the past 26 years, Southwood School has been one of the top fundraising schools in the province for the Terry Fox Foundation? Their records show our school has raised $50 580.56 for cancer research in the last 26 years! Wow!!! What an incredible school community we have supporting our students. We are so appreciative for all the support you give to our students who can in turn set examples of compassion, kindness and giving towards others, making a difference in the lives of those battling cancer.
