A Musical Visit to SCU

On Thursday, December 8th, Grade 4 students from Southwood paid a visit to Steinbach Credit Union to fill the lobby with seasonal singing. Mrs. Brown lead the students through some traditional carols, and some selections from the upcoming Christmas Concert. The students sounded spectacular, and were excited to be broadcast onto AM 1250 for the whole community to hear!

November Maker Challenge

November was the month for our first Maker Challenge! With inspiration from “Rosie Revere: Engineer”, the students designed and built a paper helicopter! Captain Southwood made an appearance at our last assembly to test the top designs from each class in each grade. A trophy was awarded to the class from each grade with the best-floating helicopter! We’re excited about December’s “decoration” challenge!

Our Terry Fox Assembly (with special guests)!

Southwood students celebrated their success on Friday morning with an Assembly featuring 2S and 2P, Mr. Rempel from Mix 96, and another furry visitor!

For our annual Terry Fox Run, the students raised over $1 600 to help find a cure for cancer! This accomplishment meant that Mrs. Beaudin and Mr. Rempel would kiss the goat that came to visit us. Watch the video below to see all the fun!

We congratulate our students, and thank Mrs. Beaudin and Mr. Rempel very much for their bravery and sense of humor.
